Yo CiTY exists in your city wherever you are in the world to champion the BIPOC experience within contemporary society through Music and Art. We have a firm commitment to storytelling that is fierce, tenacious and relationship building. (Yo CiTY Connect)

We curate exclusive experiences where makers from across the creative spectrum including visual, oral, sonic, fashion, digital, entrepreneurs and more; collaborate with musicians in a way that elevates each other’s practice and ultimately bridge the revenue gap within the creative industry. We showcase bespoke happenings that bring like minded people together to understand and celebrate issues that are pertinent to BIPOC experience.

Team Yo CiTY

Percy Dube (Co – Founder)

Percy is a Music Producer, Creative Director at OZ AFRICAN TV, Consults as a Business Process Analyst, CHANNEL 31 Advisory Board Member; a Victorian non-profit, open-access community television station and the founder of Yo CiTY.  

He believes that music has the power to speak volumes as one of the highest forms of self expression.

With his well versed experience within the technology industry, Percy brings with him a strong technical and analytical perspective that compliments the intricate work of being a Creative Director and Producer.

Percy has worked closely with OZ AFRICAN TV as Creative Director, C31 Melbourne & Geelong as Technical Crew member working as a Camera Operator and Mentoring young people through the AIME Mentoring & Freeza programs.

Under his creative belt, Percy is a Painter and Fashion Designer of the emerging label Blackout Apparel

Dorcas Maphakela (Co – Founder)

Dorcas is a dynamic doer who wears many hats and brings with her a wealth of media experience and community engagement through her acquired skill sets. She is a TV presenter, public speaker and founder of the Antenna Award winning, OZ AFRICAN TV (OATV); a digital platform that celebrates people of African diaspora in Australia. Dorcas is also the co-founder of Yo CiTY. 

Alongside running Yo CiTY Dorcas continues to contribute to the multicultural community through her work at Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) as a Producer.  Dorcas also works as Community Engagement Manager at C31 Melbourne and Geelong; a Victorian non-profit, open-access community television station.

 Additionally,  Some of her recent work include Program Manager leading the African Australian Stream at AIME Mentoring, Creative Mentor at Testing Grounds, Lead facilitating Artist at the City of Melbourne’s SIGNAL. Dorcas holds a Master of Arts (Writing) through Swinburne University, studied Degree in Visual Arts through University of Johannesburg.

Fadzai Nzuwa (Filmmaker)

Fadzai Nzuwa is a filmmaker & writer based in Melbourne Australia. Having recently obtained her Bachelors in Film Studies & Production, she joined the yocity team as a videographer & editor.

Her role as co-founder of the digital magazine- Gold Attic and frequent contributor for Melbourne-based indie publication- Finesse Magazine, prove her interests and talents veer past film. Having had experience in both publication & screenwriting writing as well as filmmaking.
